Quantitative Methoden 1 (QM1)
An introduction to probability and statistical inference for health-science students, with all examples worked through in R. Link to the bookdown script.
Content overview:
- Probability: frequentist vs. Bayesian thinking and the foundations of probability theory
- Descriptive statistics: histograms, Q-Q plots, correlation, univariate & bivariate summaries
- Bayes' theorem and Bayesian parameter estimation
- Null Hypothesis Significance Testing (NHST): binomial, proportions, chi-squared, t- and correlation tests
Quantitative Methoden 2 (QM2)
Statistical modeling with a focus on linear regression, taught side by side in the Bayesian and frequentist frameworks. Link to the bookdown script.
Content overview:
- What statistical modeling is and why we need it
- Simple linear regression (Bayesian & frequentist)
- Multiple linear regression with several predictors (Bayesian & frequentist)
- Posterior predictive checks and prediction intervals
Quantitative Methoden 3 (QM3) (Methodenvertiefung)
Advanced methods building on QM1 and QM2. Link to the bookdown script.
Content overview:
- Reliability and validity: inter-rater reliability and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)
- Further regression methods: linear mixed models (LMMs) and logistic regression
- Artificial Intelligence: capabilities and risks of large language models (LLMs)
