Experience

since 2026
Co-Founder & Managing DirectorFAIR Press Journals (company currently being incorporated)
AI-native, reproducibility-first scholarly publisher

  • Open access, copyright retained by authors, income-tiered and waivable fees
  • First title: Journal of Reproducible Statistics (JRepStat) — methods, applications, replications and null findings judged on soundness rather than novelty

Fellowships & Awards

2026
CausalFlow — Hasler Stiftung small project (CHF 47,800, 10 months), Principal Investigator · to be submitted
A zero-install, glass-box tool for correct causal analysis in health research
  • Free, browser-based tool for researchers with a dataset and a causal question but no coding and no formal training in causal graphs — filling the gap between DAGitty (diagram, no estimation) and code libraries such as DoWhy (estimation, but requires programming)
  • Draw a causal diagram, set the relationships: the tool selects the correct adjustment set (total or direct effect), fits the appropriate regression, and reports a compatibility interval with a plain-language interpretation — without p < 0.05 thresholds or "CI-contains-zero" dichotomies
  • Checks the diagram against the data and warns in real time when the user conditions on a collider or leaves a confounding path open
  • Generates labelled practice datasets with known ground truth, making an abstract and error-prone topic teachable
  • Working prototype exists; the project delivers a hosted open-source release, validated with users and embedded in ZHAW teaching
2020–2023
DOC Fellowship Programme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (EUR 114,000)
Competitive funding for highly qualified doctoral candidates
